“Today we celebrate this milestone with our partners, the City of Laredo, the Texas Department of Transportation, Webb County Draining District No. 1 and the greater community of south Laredo, that most stands to benefit from this road extension,” said Jed A. Brown, Chair of the Webb County-City of Laredo Regional Mobility Authority (WC-CL RMA) Board of Directors. “This project provides crucial local connectivity for residents, school buses and everyone that has a stake in south Laredo, as this area continues to experience residential and commercial development and expansion.”
Project background:
- In 2020 the WC-CL RMA developed plans, specifications, and an estimate for the implementation of a new section of roadway
- It is 0.85 miles in length, from the intersection of Los Presidentes and Loop 20 South (Cuatro Vientos) to the intersection of Los Presidentes and Brownwood Street
- The City of Laredo over saw construction which began in March 2021 with contractor MTZ Construction.
- The TxDOT Laredo District initiated a companion project in October 2021 that consisted of acceleration and deceleration lanes on Loop 20 South (Cuatro Vientos) with contractor Anderson Columbia(City of Laredo Construction Contract) Los Presidentes from Cuatro Vientos to Brownwood funding:
